The beautiful city Mainpuri is the administrative headquarters of the district Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. The city got its name from the Rishi Chaman Myan. The city is a municipal board and sited to the north-east of Agra; also the city falls under Agra division. Hindi is the official spoken language in the city, although people do speak Indo-Aryan language Kannauji and Western Hindi language Braj Bhasha. Both Kannauji and Braj Bhasha are closely related to Hindustani. Few percentage of people in Mainpuri also speak Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi and other languages. The ethnic city homes famous Hindu temples, the majestic palace Garhi and the historic Maharaja Tej Singh Chauhan fort.
